What people ask us most
Does D1 include a trailer?
Yes. When the towing vehicle is D2, a U authorisation is needed for the trailer.
Does a one-day vignette last 24 hours?
It covers a calendar day, not 24 hours from purchase.
Do I need a vignette if I am only passing through?
Yes. It applies from the first kilometre of motorway, even if you are only passing through. For a short transit the shortest duration, which is also the cheapest, is usually enough.
How do I know my vignette is active?
We email you the confirmation with the country, plate and validity dates. Keep it on your phone during the trip in case you are asked for it.
Can I buy it before my trip?
Yes. You choose the day it starts and it is ready when you arrive. Next year’s annual vignettes go on pre-sale before the year begins.
What if I mistype my plate?
Before you pay we show the plate exactly as it will be registered so you can check it. If you still spot a mistake, write to us as soon as you notice and we will help you fix it.
Towing a caravan or trailer: do I need another vignette?
It depends on the country. In Switzerland the trailer or caravan needs its own vignette; each country page explains which vehicles need one.
Can I use the same vignette for another car?
No. Each vignette is linked to one plate. If you travel in another vehicle, you need a vignette for that plate.
Can I buy vignettes for several countries at once?
Yes. In “Plan your trip” you enter your route, choose the duration and date for each vignette and pay for everything at once.
